An Event Poet Session

Illustrative Narrative Scenario

“When Event Poet is not in session, it is not doing anything other than remaining on standby.”

The following scenario illustrates how an Event Poet session may begin, expand, develop across multiple participating audiovisual sources, and conclude as an organized event record. The example is a daytime residential incident occurring between approximately 10:33 a.m. and 10:44 a.m.

The purpose of the scenario is to show not merely that Event Poet can connect to multiple cameras, but how a qualifying event can become the focus of an event-specific, intelligently directed audiovisual environment that develops across time, geography, multiple subscribers, different camera systems, and authorized participants.

Light-Switch Principle

A light bulb may be installed, connected to electricity, and ready to illuminate a room. Yet the bulb remains off until somebody flips the switch. The presence of the bulb, wiring, and electrical power does not mean the light is continuously shining.

Event Poet operates in much the same way. A camera carrying Event Poet software may be active, while Event Poet itself remains inactive. The availability of audiovisual technology does not automatically create an Event Poet session.

The operational switch is flipped only when a qualified subscriber initiates a session or authorized conditions warrant activation. The resulting activity is bounded by a defined event, purpose, time, area, and set of permitted sources.

Once activated, Event Poet may request authorized footage from before, during, and after the event. When the qualifying purpose ends, the session concludes and Event Poet returns to standby. The camera may be active. Event Poet is inactive until activated.

10:33 a.m. — Before the event

It is a normal late weekday morning in a residential neighborhood. Traffic is light, neighbors are at home, and various cameras are operating independently in ordinary ways—home security cameras, doorbell cameras, nearby vehicle cameras, and other participating audiovisual sources.

At approximately 10:33 a.m., a gray four-door sedan enters the neighborhood and begins moving slowly through the area. Rather than parking directly in front of the eventual target residence, the vehicle stops several houses away, in a location that appears unusual enough to attract attention.

***Interestingly enough, when the Event Poet session starts, its system will be able to query proximate Event Poet (and even some that are not) enabled cameras to see where the gray four-door sedan came from, even if it came from a considerable time ago, and where it came from. Event Poet will utilize all metadata and data to build a video time and spatial sequence in order to produce the video that the subscriber will see. This portion of the event is known as the 'Before' portion of the event.

10:35 AM - Initial Prompts Begin
One neighbor notices the vehicle first. From inside her home, as per the image above, she observes that the sedan appears to be lingering without a clear reason for being there. She is able to make out several useful details, including the vehicle type, its gray color, and part of the license plate. As the gray sedan is unsually idling along the curb with what appears to be two occupants the neighbor, out of caution, sends notification to the subscriber (her neighbor) through the Event Poet app.

Initially however the subscriber does not check the Event Poet alert even though the app is blinking on his cellpone, (bottom right corner of screen) as he is busy at work. He placed his cellphone on mute so he could talk on the phone and does not notice the red glowing Event Poet app in the bottom right corner of his cellphone's screen alerting him.

Second Event Poet Prompt
A second neighbor observing from a different vantage point, her car's dashboard camera, observes the two males appearing to be approximately thirty years old wearing jeans and hooded sweatshirts move away from the now curbside parked vehicle and begin walking toward the homeowner's property. Their conduct appears out of place and sufficiently suspicious to justify concern. At this stage no break-in has yet occurred, but the event is beginning to take shape.

These initial prompts do more than simply notify Event Poet that something may be happening. They provide the central Event Poet system with searchable, event-specific descriptive characteristics associated with the developing event.

The distinction between a prompt and a formal Event Poet session is important.

A prompt is an initial event indication supplied by an authenticated participant. It contributes information that may help Event Poet determine whether several observations relate to the same developing occurrence. A prompt by itself does not necessarily establish a full Event Poet session.

A formal Event Poet session, by contrast, becomes the governed event container through which the system can assign a unique event identifier, establish permissions, define a spatial-temporal area of interest, organize participating sources, maintain an event timeline, support authorized information sharing, and ultimately preserve the resulting Event Poet record.

At 10:36 a.m., the system is still receiving and evaluating preliminary event indications.

Event Poet timestamps each observation, associates it with the authenticated subscriber who entered it, and begins correlating the two independently submitted prompts. Because both reports concern substantially the same location, time period, vehicle, and persons, the system can begin treating them as potentially related observations of a single developing event.

EVENT

On the interim the two person, who are now persons of interest, went onto the subscriber's property, disabled his doorbell security camera, forceably enter through the home's front door, stole valueables and the family's pet dog.

As the subscriber previously toggled his setting to fully alert him if he receives more then one prompt, his Event Poet app alerts him in Full Screen mode and vibrates on his desk. Three alerts, two from two neighbors and one from his home security system in light of his doorbell camera being offline, all of which he previously intergrated with Event Poet have caused Event Poet to send a Full Screen alert to the Event Poet app on his cellphone.

Event Poet is now fully operational and performing the following tasks:

Once the subscriber initiates the Event Poet session, the system begins transforming separate observations and camera recordings into a coordinated understanding of the event. It performs the following tasks in sequence:

  1. Creates and timestamps the Event Poet session
Event Poet records the precise activation time and assigns a unique Event Poet Session ID. The original neighbor prompts, subscriber activation, camera detections, and later system findings are preserved as separately timestamped events within the session record.

  2. Establishes the initial event description
The system organizes the preliminary information supplied by subscribers and participating cameras. In this scenario, that information includes the gray four-door sedan, the persons of interest, their clothing and physical characteristics, their direction of movement, and any associated items or activities.

  3. Identifies the initial objects of interest
Event Poet creates working profiles for the vehicle, people, animals, objects, locations, and activities associated with the event. These profiles may include visual characteristics, distinguishing features, probable relationships, and confidence levels. The profiles are continually refined as additional information becomes available.

  4. Establishes a Spatial-Temporal Area of Interest
Event Poet defines an initial geographic area around the developing event and connects it to the relevant period of time. This Spatial-Temporal Area of Interest—or SAOI—provides the system with a structured area in which to search for related observations.

  5. Identifies relevant participating cameras and audiovisual sources
The system determines which authorized and available cameras may have observed the vehicle, persons, or related activity. Depending on the session and participating network, these sources may include residential cameras, doorbell cameras, mobile devices, vehicle cameras, business cameras, and other compatible systems.

  6. Queries the participating camera network for possible matches
Event Poet compares the preliminary descriptions against imagery and metadata available from relevant participating sources. It searches for possible matches involving the gray sedan, the persons of interest, their clothing, carried objects, the family pet, and other details associated with the event.

  7. Looks backward through the event’s “before” period
The system examines available earlier observations to determine what happened before activation. It may identify where the sedan came from, when it entered the neighborhood, how long it remained in the area, where it stopped, and whether the persons of interest were previously observed approaching the subscriber’s property.

  8. Expands or narrows the area of interest intelligently
As new detections are made, Event Poet adjusts the SAOI. It may expand the search along a roadway or toward another neighborhood, while reducing attention to cameras and locations that are no longer relevant. This intelligent focusing helps concentrate system resources on the developing event.

  9. Synchronizes observations from different viewpoints
Recordings from separate cameras may differ in timing, angle, distance, image quality, and duration. Event Poet places relevant observations onto a common timeline, accounts for temporal differences, and determines the most likely sequence in which the activities occurred.

  10. Maintains continuity during the active event
Event Poet continues following the event as it develops. It evaluates new observations, updates the locations and directions of travel of the persons and vehicle, identifies changes in activity, and records important transitions within the session.

  11. Evaluates the reliability of its findings
Potential matches are assessed using available visual, spatial, temporal, and contextual information. Event Poet distinguishes confirmed information from probable or uncertain findings and updates confidence levels when additional evidence supports—or contradicts—an earlier interpretation.

  12. Constructs the event’s “before, during, and after” sequence
The system organizes the most relevant material into a continuous ordinal account:

    • Before: How the persons and vehicle arrived and what occurred before the subscriber activated Event Poet.

    • During: What happened while the event was actively unfolding.

    • After: Where the persons, vehicle, pet, and other objects went after leaving the property.

  13. Continues following the event after the immediate activity ends
Event Poet does not necessarily stop when the sedan leaves the subscriber’s property. When authorized sources remain available, the system may continue expanding the SAOI along the vehicle’s apparent route, searching for subsequent detections and determining where the vehicle traveled.

  14. Produces a coordinated Event Poet video presentation
Rather than presenting the subscriber with numerous unrelated camera clips, Event Poet selects and arranges the most relevant observations into an understandable session presentation. The resulting account may include synchronized video, significant still images, mapped movement, timestamps, detection notices, source indicators, confidence information, and a summarized sequence of events.

  15. Preserves the completed session for authorized review
The session is stored within the subscriber’s authorized Event Poet environment, together with its Session ID, timeline, source information, system findings, and relevant audiovisual material. Access, retention, sharing, and later review remain subject to Event Poet’s privacy controls, subscriber permissions, participation agreements, and applicable law.

Through this process, Event Poet converts scattered observations into a coherent understanding of what occurred before, during, and after an event, while the event is still developing and while relevant information may still be available.

Event Poet's Confidence Scoring Engine
Event Poet develops a confidence score by continuously comparing subscriber-provided information with audiovisual data gathered from multiple authorized camera sources. Descriptions of persons of interest, clothing, physical characteristics, vehicles, license plates, direction of travel, location, and timing are evaluated against observations obtained throughout the event.

As additional cameras independently observe the same person or vehicle, and those observations repeatedly match the identifying characteristics already associated with the event—Event Poet's confidence score increases. License-plate matches, consistent vehicle characteristics, recurring visual matches, geographic continuity, and chronological consistency can further strengthen that assessment.

The confidence score therefore reflects the degree of corroboration across independent sources, helping Event Poet distinguish incidental activity from the persons and vehicles actually associated with the monitored event. A higher score indicates stronger, mutually supporting evidence, not absolute certainty.

Confidence That Builds as Evidence Converges

Event Poet's confidence score can increase progressively as independent information begins to corroborate the same persons and vehicles of interest. A session might begin at only 26% confidence, based primarily on the initiating subscriber's description and an initial camera observation. As additional cameras detect matching clothing, physical characteristics, vehicle type, color, direction of travel, or partial license-plate information, the score might rise to 37%, 44%, 53%, and 61%.

Continued multi-source confirmation can strengthen the assessment further. Consistent geographic movement, repeated visual matches, and a confirmed license plate might increase confidence to 68%, 73%, 77%, 81%, 86%, and ultimately 87%.

The score is therefore not based on a single observation. It develops as multiple independent data points converge on the same conclusion, giving Event Poet progressively stronger confidence that it is monitoring the correct persons of interest and vehicle of interest while recognizing that even a high confidence score does not represent absolute certainty.

Incidential imagery captured by Event Poet enabled cameras during general date and time of event. Descriptions of one of the persons of interest match with a 77% confidence score.
The subscriber toggled his Event Poet setting to programmatically send data to authorities when the conditions of an event warrant doing so. This option is provided by Event Poet and includes Event ID and indentifying factors of the event,
